Superior Seed Blend

The best grass grows from the best seed. We use a blue label, certified seed blend called 365ss for our Kentucky Bluegrass sod. It’s the ultimate bluegrass blend that is highly wear-tolerant, dark green, and dense. Plus it’s the same seed used at The Rose Bowl and who doesn’t want to use that tidbit at their next backyard BBQ?

Mineral-Based

We could get all “science-y” here, but the long and short of it is that you can buy sod grown in peat-based soil or mineral-based soil. We grow in mineral-based soil because your sod will root better when installed and this means it will retain moisture and stand up to wear and tear better.

Harvested On Demand

Sod is a perishable good and we treat it as such. The less time your sod spends sitting on a pallet, the better. So let us know when you need it and we’ll harvest it on demand.

FAQs

What days of the week do you harvest?

We typically harvest each week on Tuesday and Friday. If you have a large order that you need harvested on a different day, please reach out and we will certainly try to accommodate you.

How do I care for the sod once it’s installed?

We have a whole blog post dedicated to DIY installation and caring for the sod after you’ve laid it. The University of Minnesota Extension program also has a great lawn care resources page

How much sod is on a pallet?

Our sod is harvested in 1 square yard rolls (9 square feet). Each roll measures 18” by 6’, and there are 50 rolls per pallet. If you don’t like to do math, that means there are 50 square yards or 450 square feet per pallet.

How long do I have to lay the sod once I get it?

Please remember that sod is a living plant, and just like any living plant it will begin to degrade as soon as it’s harvested. We highly recommend laying your sod within 24 hours of receiving it and making sure to get it watered right away.

Do I have to buy a whole pallet?

We are happy to sell small quantities of sod, and do not require you to purchase a whole pallet. For smaller orders we will just need to add your order to a day we already have planned to harvest a bigger quantity.

Do you deliver sod? Can I pick up my sod from you?

We offer both pick up and delivery options. You can pick up directly from the field or pay an additional charge for delivery.
